The Advice of Charge (AOC) feature (Europe only) displays the cost of a toll call on the caller's phone display. When this feature is enabled, the charge for the call replaces the call duration on the display. AOC provides call charges on all display phones and IP consoles.
AOC calculates the call charge using meter pulses sent from the Central Office (CO). When a caller makes a toll call, the CO establishes the call and sends meter pulses back to MiVoice Business. MiVoice Business calculates the cost of the call and displays that cost on the caller's telephone display. As meter pulses come in, MiVoice Business recalculates the charge and updates the display with the cumulative cost. If the call is transferred to a third party, MiVoice Business displays call charge information on the third party's phone.
Advice of Charge is calculated as follows:
AOC = (meter pulses x multiplier / 1000) + (surcharge / 10)
where:
meter pulses is the total number of meter pulses received from the CO
multiplier is a configurable value from 0 to 2000 representing thousandths of the local currency
surcharge is a configurable value from 0 to 9999 representing tenths of the local currency
The AOC feature supports both:
AOC-D (Duration)— call charge is displayed and updated during the call
AOC-E (End)— call charge is displayed at the end of the call. If the caller hangs up first, the final meter pulse is not processed and the final call charge is not displayed.
MiVoice Business can be programmed to log meter pulses in the Station Message Detail Records (SMDR). For AOC-D, accumulated meter pulses are logged whenever a caller ends or transfers a call. For AOC-E, all meter pulses are logged to the final party at the end of the call.
AOC is available on BRI and PRI trunks programmed:
On a Dual T1/E1 Framer MMC module
On a Quad BRI Framer MMC module
Advice of Charge is:
Only supported on the Euro-ISDN ( Euro-Standard variant) and Euro-BRI protocols
Only supported on the following AOC variants: ETSI, Italy, Holland, Spain, or France.
The ETSI variant supports AOC-D and AOC-E. The Holland, Spain, and Italy variants conform to CO operation in those countries.
Not available for network-side interfaces
Not available on a per-call basis (AOC is available at subscription time only)
Not available for conference calls
Not supported on 5560 IPTs
Supported on the 6905 and 6910 IP Phones.
Before programming AOC, ensure the carrier providing ISDN services is delivering meter pulses for all applicable ISDN links.
